Email\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:mrhibbard@bistatedev.org?Subject=Hello%20again\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"noopener\">mrhibbard@bistatedev.org<\/a>, and we may share your story in a future \u201cPassenger Profile.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-54860\" src=\"https:\/\/www.metrostlouis.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Shelly-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.metrostlouis.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Shelly-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.metrostlouis.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Shelly-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.metrostlouis.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Shelly-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For Shelly, her daily commutes start by revving up her scooter.<\/p>\n<p>Each day begins\u00a0with a nine-mile scooter ride to the Shrewsbury-Lansdowne I-44 MetroLink Station, where she catches a MetroLink train and rides about 10 minutes to the Clayton MetroLink Station.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s timely,&#8221; Shelly said. &#8220;I can&#8217;t get from Shrewsbury to Clayton in 10 minutes on the roadways, but I can get from Shrewsbury to Clayton using Metro.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Shelly has been a Metro passenger since 1988. For her, using public transportation is part of her family upbringing.<\/p>\n<p>Her father worked for Metro at a MetroBus facility for 39 years. And before she lived near the Shrewsbury station, Shelly and her cousin would hop on the bus in University City.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Metro has always been our way,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Shelly uses Metro primarily to get to and from work each day, but also rides MetroLink to get to St. Louis-Lambert International Airport, to Cardinals and Blues games, and to festivities around town like Mardi Gras.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s cost effective,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Shelly advises those new to Metro to be prepared and be alert. She recommends carrying a travel bag with you, filled with the necessary travel essentials such as an umbrella for rainy days.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Be prepared and just travel smart,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Passengers like\u00a0Shelly\u00a0depend on Metro transit to get to work, school and other important destinations.
